Privacy policy — Mind First
Effective date: October 9, 2026
Mind First (“the app”) is published by Jeremy Ward (“we”, “us”), using that person’s personal Apple and Google Play accounts. Contact: mindfirstpauseandreflect@gmail.com. Postal address: 6255 Towncenter Dr, Unit #1519, Clemmons, NC 27012.
This policy covers the Mind First mobile app for iOS and Android, package com.basicvibes.mindfirst. It does not cover Apple, Google, or RevenueCat under their own policies.
EU representative: None appointed.
What Mind First is
Mind First is a morning and evening reflection ritual. It can block selected apps until you finish a check-in. It is a general-wellness app, and it is not a medical device. The wellness disclaimer is at wellness disclaimer.
Accounts
Mind First does not create a user account. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or a password. There is no in-app profile to delete.
Subscriptions are store accounts. Apple or Google has that account, not Mind First.
Check-ins stay on the phone
What you write in a check-in, including drafts, is stored on the device (local app storage). We do not upload that text, and we do not read it from a server.
Also stored only on the device:
- Wake time and wind-down time
- Which apps you selected, as package names on Android or an opaque Apple selection token on iOS
- Whether the morning or evening pause is active
- Local reminder times
Android backup for the app is turned off. Uninstalling Mind First deletes this on-device data. Uninstalling does not delete crash reports already sent, or a subscription record held by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat.
On iOS, the app uses Apple’s Family Controls framework to hold the apps you pick. Mind First does not receive the names of those apps from that token.
Data that does leave the phone
Crash reports (Sentry)
If the app crashes or a purchase screen fails, a report may be sent to Sentry in the United States (Sentry project mind-first under organization basic-vibes). A report can include:
- The error and stack trace
- App version and build
- Device and operating-system details the Sentry SDK attaches
- A short breadcrumb such as an onboarding step name or a paywall status (
loaded, empty, failed, or a short reason likenetwork)
The app sets Sentry’s sendDefaultPii option to false and does not attach your name or email. Session replay is not enabled. Check-in text is not included in these reports.
Sentry is a processor for fixing bugs. We do not use crash reports for advertising.
Purchases (RevenueCat, Apple, Google)
Protection that blocks selected apps is a subscription sold by Apple or Google. The app uses RevenueCat to read whether the hard_gate entitlement is active.
RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user id generated on the device, plus purchase receipts, product identifiers, and entitlement status. The app does not send an email or a display name to RevenueCat. The charge itself is handled by Apple or Google. We do not receive your full card number.
Platform permissions
If you turn on protection, the operating system handles usage access (Android), display over other apps (Android), exact alarms (Android), notifications, and Family Controls (iOS). Those systems see what their own settings screens require. Mind First uses usage access on Android to notice when a selected app opens. That foreground signal is used on the device to show the check-in. It is not uploaded as a usage history.
What we do not do
- No advertising SDK and no sale of personal data
- No product-analytics product (no Amplitude, PostHog, or Firebase Analytics)
- No over-the-air update channel in this version (
expo-updatesis not configured) - No Mind First server that stores your check-ins
- No accessibility service that reads the screen
Build tools (Expo Application Services) are used by the publisher to compile the app. They are not a feature that uploads your journal while you use the app.
Legal bases (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, Jeremy Ward is the controller for the data Mind First sends.
| Processing | Basis |
|---|---|
| Store subscription and entitlement status | Contract (the subscription you start with Apple or Google) |
| Crash reports | Legitimate interests: keeping the app from crashing. You can object or ask for deletion using mindfirstpauseandreflect@gmail.com |
| On-device check-in text | Not sent to us. It stays under your control on the device |
We do not use the data above for automated decisions that produce legal effects.
Where data is processed
Sentry ingest used by this app is in the United States. RevenueCat processes purchase records in the United States. Apple and Google process payments in the regions their store terms describe. If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, those transfers are covered by the providers’ standard contractual clauses or an equivalent mechanism they publish. Ask mindfirstpauseandreflect@gmail.com if you want the current list.
How long it is kept
- On-device check-ins: until you delete them in the app, clear app storage, or uninstall
- Sentry events: according to the Sentry project retention Jeremy configures (confirm the number of days before publish)
- RevenueCat subscriber records: for as long as needed to honor the subscription and a short period after, unless you ask for deletion and the store still allows it
- Apple and Google keep purchase records under their own rules
Your choices and requests
Email mindfirstpauseandreflect@gmail.com to:
- Ask what crash or purchase identifiers we hold
- Ask us to delete Sentry events we can still identify, and the RevenueCat anonymous subscriber
- Object to crash reporting, or ask us to restrict it
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
We may need the approximate date of a crash or the store order id, because there is no account email to search. Apple and Google must handle refunds and cancellation of the store subscription. We cannot delete Apple’s or Google’s copy of a receipt.
You can stop future crash reports only if a later version adds an in-app switch. Until then, uninstalling stops new reports from that install.
Children
Mind First is not directed to children under 16. It is a personal ritual for the person who owns the phone. It is not a tool for controlling someone else’s device. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We will post updates at privacy policy and change the effective date. Continued use after the new date means the new policy applies to data sent after that date. Check-ins already stored only on the device are not moved off the device by a policy change.
